Red switches are linear-style switches; their travel path doesn’t have the bump used to provide tactile feedback. These switches don’t have to reset past that bump to register a repeat press, so gamers who need to rapidly double-tap or triple-tap keys will enjoy the edge in speed. The smoother movement makes these switches quieter than tactile and click switches.
Red switches were only introduced in 2015 and are the most recent switch to be developed by the company. They have a low actuation force, at 50 cN – tied with Brown for the lowest of the four most common switches. Red switches have been marketed as a gaming switch, with the light weighting allowing for more rapid actuation, and have become increasingly common in gaming keyboards.
Overview Of Products
"linear" and "tactile" switch, almost every mechanical switch is one or the other, and the difference between the two types is easy to understand. To operate a linear switch, you must push it all the way down, like the membrane key. To actuate a tactile switch, you usually push it about halfway down; you can continue pressing the key after that, but you can also take your finger off and move to the next key right away.
